The “flotilla fiasco”
All you need to know about the so-called “flotilla fiasco” is here. Those who prefer words to pictures could do worse than to start with Mona Charen, Caroline Glick, or Melanie Phillips. Trust the women to get it right.

Once again, according to the media, Israelis are murderous villains and the Palestinians are patriotic, humanitarian heroes and marginalized victims. When, I wonder, will the truth prevail? When will the self-proclaimed enemies of Israel be properly exposed? Any ideas?
As Jennifer Rubin (what is it with the wisdom of these women?) said on Contentions this morning, “[I]f you do not oppose with every fiber of your being and every instrument at your disposal that which intends the Jewish state harm, you are enabling her destroyers.”
Look, as Alan Dershowitz has said, “If the Palestinians put down their weapons, there would be peace tomorrow. If the Israelis put down their weapons, there would be genocide tomorrow.”
That is why the efforts to delegitimize the Jewish state must be relentlessly opposed.
What can humble book bloggers do to help?
The American government (especially in the last eighteen months) has alternated between being shamelessly silent and insensibly critical of Israel. When the crisis boils over, which I fear it will, I do not doubt that the Obama administration will hide behind a its grotesque cloak of internationalism. Then, I like others fear, Israel will be on its own. However, I hope I am wrong, even though I have been uncomfortably correct about all of my Obama predictions thus far. To your readers who may wonder about my position, I say only this: I support Israel, but I do not support Obama. That, I suppose, is clear enough.
Tell the truth. There is only one country on earth whose right to exist is routinely called into question. And if you wonder why, ask yourself why New Zealand just banned kosher butchering. And where the Jews of New Zealand are supposed to go if they want to live as Jews.
Tim,
On this occasion, the Obama Administration seems to be standing with Israel, at least if Vice President Biden speaks for the Administration.
Given President Obama's fondness for camera opportunities, I would have hoped that he would seize the moment to make a complete denunciation of the "flotilla" while also clearly supporting Israel. Perhaps I missed such a seizure; instead, the proxies (Sec. Clinton and VP Biden) are carrying what I see as lukewarm message. President Obama's track record, to my mind, has not been pro-Israel but has been instead something resembling pro-Palestinian, pro-Arab, and pro-internationalism. Our current president ought to channel some of Truman's chuzpah in support of a country and a people under constant assault. But, hey, all this is just one person's impatient opinion about the current administration and international affairs, particularly with respect to Israel's ongoing struggle to stay one step ahead of the lunatics (Hamas and Iran, just to name two factions).
